Day of the Dead in San Antonio Texas boasts one of the largest celebrations in the United States.

The shops in the traditional marketplace have many altars set up for the holiday, the Day of the Dead River Parade has floats along the popular Riverwalk, and the Festival all contribute to the celebration. The Festival has developed its own app for the event and maintains a competition for participant’s favorite altar. The altars range from the very personal to social justice themes. Several local schools and clubs are involved in creating an altar. Included in the festival are exhibits from UNAM in San Antonio and the Instituto Cultural de México.
